A Academia de Televisão dos Estados Unidos divulgou nesta quinta-feira (12/7) os indicados ao Emmy 2018, considerado o Oscar da TV. E “Game of Thrones” lidera a disputa com 22 indicações, seguida de perto por “Westworld” e pelo programa humorístico “Saturday Night Live”, ambos com 21 nomeações.
“Game of Thrones” tinha ficado de fora da disputa em 2017 porque sua 7ª temporada estreou em julho, depois do prazo que a permitiria concorrer naquele ano. São esses episódios que concorrem ao prêmio atual, dois anos após a série se tornar a mais premiada da história do Emmy. Tudo indica que a atração ampliará ainda mais seu próprio recorde.
Apesar de produzir as duas séries mais nomeadas, “Game of Thrones” e “Westworld”, o canal pago HBO foi superado pela primeira vez pela plataforma Netflix, que atingiu 112 indicações, quatro a mais que a antiga campeão do Emmy. A HBO passou 17 anos consecutivos na liderança das indicações ao Emmy.
As indicações foram anunciadas pelos atores Samira Wiley (série “The Handmaid’s Tale”) e Ryan Eggold (série “The Blacklist”). E, neste ano, não houve novidades na categoria de Melhor Série Dramática, com “Game of Thrones” concorrendo com “The Americans”, “The Crown”, “Stranger Things”, “This Is Us”, “Westworld” e “The Handmaid’s Tale”, a vencedora do ano passado.
Na disputa de Melhor Série de Comédia, houve duas novidades: “Barry”, do HBO, e “GLOW”, da Netflix. Já “Roseanne”, cancelada após declarações racistas de sua estrela principal, Roseanne Barr, foi lembrada em apenas duas categorias: Melhor Atriz Coadjuvante em Série de Comédia, para Laurie Metcalf, e Melhor Edição de Série de Comédia em Estúdio (multicam).
Fenômeno de crítica no Festival de Sundance, “The Tale”, que muitos consideravam favorito ao Oscar, após ser adquirido e exibido pelo HBO entrou na disputa do Emmy de Melhor Filme da TV. A produção também deve contemplar Laura Dern com o Emmy de Melhor Atriz, em vez do Oscar que ela buscaria.
A cerimônia de premiação do 70º Emmy Awards acontecerá no dia 17 de setembro no Microsoft Theater, em Los Angeles, com apresentação da dupla Michael Che e Colin Jost, do “Staurday Night Live”, e transmissão no Brasil pelo canal pago TNT.
