A morte de Betty White nesta sexta (31/12) deixou a virada de ano mais triste nos EUA, especialmente em Hollywood e na Casa Branca. Vários famosos foram às redes sociais lamentar a perda do ícone da comédia, poucos dias antes dela completar 100 anos.
“O mundo parece diferente agora”, tuitou Ryan Reynolds, que desde a parceria com Betty White na comédia “A Proposta” (2009) brincava sobre sua fixação romântica na veterana. “Ela era ótima em desafiar as expectativas. Ela conseguiu envelhecer muito e, de alguma forma, não o suficiente. Sentiremos sua falta, Betty”, ele escreveu.
“Nosso tesouro nacional, Betty White, passou pouco antes de seu 100º aniversário”, tuitou George Takei, de “Jornada nas Estrelas”. “Nossa Sue Ann Nivens, nossa amada Rose Nylund, juntou-se aos céus para encantar as estrelas com seu estilo inimitável, humor e charme. Uma grande perda para todos nós.”
“Eu cresci assistindo e me deliciando com ela”, tuitou a estrela de “Will & Grace” Debra Messing. “Ela era brincalhona, ousada e inteligente. Todos nós sabíamos que esse dia chegaria, mas isso não tira o sentimento de perda. Um tesouro nacional, de fato”.
“Nossa, 2021, você simplesmente não podia ir embora sem mais um soco na cara, não é? É tão triste saber que a lenda da comédia Betty White faleceu. É difícil imaginar um mundo sem ela. Vai ser um lugar muito menos engraçado, com certeza”, lamentou o diretor Paul Feig, de “Missão Madrinha de Casamento”.
“Meu Deus, como o céu deve estar brilhante agora”, comentou Valerie Bertinelli, colega da atriz na sitcom “Calor em Cleaveland”.
“Betty foi a melhor!”, declarou Fran Drescher, estrela da série Nanny e atual o presidente do Sindicato dos Atores dos EUA (SAG-AFTRA), em um comunicado. “Uma mulher amável, sensível aos sentimentos de todos os animais. Uma mulher talentosa abençoada com uma vida longa. Ela gostava de ser reconhecida por seus pares em sua vida e tudo foi bem merecido. Neste negócio, nesta cidade, ter esse tipo de longevidade na carreira é raro e maravilhoso. Deus te abençoe Betty, agora você está com todos os cachorrinhos que você amou e perdeu ao longo de seus 99 anos!”
O presidente dos EUA Joe Biden também se pronunciou. “Betty White trouxe um sorriso aos rostos de gerações de americanos. Ela é um ícone cultural que fará muita falta. Jill e eu estamos pensando em sua família e em todos aqueles que a amaram nesta véspera de Ano Novo”, ele tuitou. E foi ecoado pela Primeira Dama Jill Biden: “Quem não amava Betty White? Estamos tão tristes”.
Até o Exército dos EUA a homenageou, lembrando que “ela não era apenas uma atriz incrível, mas também serviu durante a 2ª Gerra Mundial como membro dos Serviços Voluntários das Mulheres Americanas. Uma verdadeira lenda dentro e fora da tela”.
