Conheça os indicados ao Emmy 2012

Os indicados ao Emmy Awards 2012 foram anunciados nesta quinta-feira (19/7) em um evento apresentado pela atriz Kerry Washington e o comediante Jimmy Kimmel, que apareceu de pijamas como parte de uma gag (ele substituiu de última hora o ator Nick Offerman). A lista traz poucas surpresas e confirma a tendência de aglutinar os mesmos indicados, ano após ano.

Ganhador do prêmio por quatro anos consecutivos, o drama “Mad Men” pode fazer história, caso conquiste o troféu novamente em 23 de setembro, data em que a cerimônia de premiação do 64º Emmy será realizada. Para isso, terá que superar “Homeland”, vencedora do Globo de Ouro, “Game of Thrones”, “Breaking Bad”, “Boardwalk Empire” e a inglesa “Downton Abbey”.

Na categoria de Melhor Série de Comédia, a maior acumulara de prêmios é “Modern Family”, que pode conquistar o terceiro troféu consecutivo. Seus concorrentes são “The Big Bang Theory”, comédia mais vista atualmente nos EUA, “30 Rock”, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” e as estreantes “Veep” e “Girls”, que só chegam no Brasil na segunda-feira (23/7).

Entre as atuações, o destaque pertence ao elenco de “Modern Family”, que foi indicado a um total de seis categorias entre atores e atrizes. A série lidera entre as comédias, mas não foi a que obteve o maior número de indicações. A vantagem pertence a dois dramas, a série “Mad Men” e a minissérie “American Horror Story”, que obtiveram 17 indicações na disputa do Oscar da TV americana.

As categorias de comédia, por sinal, são as únicas em que há um equilíbrio entre as atrações da TV paga e a TV aberta. Já nem chama mais atenção o fato de a TV aberta estar fora da disputa pelo prêmio de Melhor Série de Drama. A tendência foi assimilada há alguns anos.

O movimento começou com a HBO nos anos 1990, fortalecido por um slogan que dizia sobre sua programação: “não é TV”. Deu tão certo que agora a própria HBO enfrenta a concorrência de outros canais por assinatura que seguem a mesma filosofia, contrastando a programação paga como “TV de qualidade”, em relação às atrações da TV aberta.

O sucesso da fórmula agora se volta contra sua formuladora. Anteriormente queridinha do Emmy, este ano a HBO terá dificuldades em superar o reconhecimento crítico de alguns rivais diretos, como “Mad Men” e “Breaking Bad”, do canal pago AMC, “Homeland”, do Showtime, “American Horror Story”, do FX, e “Downton Abbey”, exibido nos EUA pelo canal PBS. Até o History Channel entrou na disputa, com a minissérie “Hatfields & McCoys”, maior audiência da história da TV paga americana.

A HBO, porém, chega forte na disputa de Comédia, algo que não costumava ser sua especialidade. Das três séries que disputam o troféu de Melhor Série de Comédia, três são do canal pago, inclusive a favorita da crítica “Girls”, criada e estrelada por Lena Dunham, que também concorre como Melhor Atriz.

A lista tem algumas outras peculiaridades, como a forte presença de produções britânicas – além de “Downton Abbey”, concorrem “Luther” e “Sherlock” – , e a preferência por astros de cinema nas categorias de interpretação em Telefilme ou Minissérie – estão na disputa os atores Kevin Costner, Woody Harrelson, Clive Owen, Nicole Kidman, Emma Thompson, Ashley Judd, Jessica Lange, Ed Harris, David Strathairn, Tom Berenger e Mare Winningham,

Como todo ano, algumas ausências são notáveis, mas nenhuma mais sentida que “The Walking Dead”. O Emmy tradicionalmente esnoba as séries do gênero fantástico. Na verdade, a maior surpresa da lista foram as diversas indicações para “American Horror Story”, que conquistaram suas vagas graças a uma tecnicalidade: a produção foi considerada minissérie.
